There are Mobile Phone Service providers in Sri lanka who allow their customers to get SMS Messages such as Dialog,Mobitel, Tigo, Suntel CDMA, and LankaBell CDMA.
Sending SMS to other phones will be charged by the mobile phone service providers. Also there are
web based SMS sending facility through the mobile phone service providers own websites. Most of them
charge a small amount for each SMS and allow only to their customers mobile phones only. To receive Web
based SMS you must enable it with your Mobile phone service provider, in Sri Lanka some enable it for free
some charge SL Rs 100/-.But there is Suntel Telecom allows it's members to send and receive web based
SMS to Sri lanka mobile phones. It's also free to become as a member. You too can join it with your email
account, by filling and submitting the web based application form.
Although there are some restrictions for some mobile phones. You can send only 5 SMS to Dialog and can't
receive replies to your inbox. For Mobitel, Tigo, LankaBell you can send daily 15 SMS.
